If you are unable to hear any sound when you turn on your stereo, then it could be that your wiring connections are loose, especially if you have just worked on your stereo. For the few seconds the radio is on, if I adjust the volume, when the system restarts, it doesn't remember any changes I made (volume, station, temperature, etc) and it resets to what it was before I started the vehicle.
